I am a veterinarian and Hospital Director for the Mountain Island Lake location. I am originally from Iowa; but I have lived in Iowa, Arizona, California, Missouri, and North Carolina. I am licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Iowa, Missouri, North Carolina, and South Carolina. I also am licensed to teach high school science in Iowa!
I have two dogs, Maddie-a black Labrador Retriever and Tebow-a deaf, white Dogo Argentino/Pitbull mix (he was born deaf). Maddie is well-trained, Tebow—not so much!
I wanted to be a veterinarian when I was in grade school and junior high. My original path didn’t take me in that direction—I received a degree in teaching at the high school level, Biology. Rather than actually teaching, I started using my biology degree as a research technician. After several years, multiple moves, and a variety of research positions I went back to college for a Master of Education in Special Education. I taught grades 6-12 at a hospital school in Durham, NC. I moved again and started working at a science center in Iowa. I had an opportunity to listen to an astronaut speak about “Challenging Students to Pursue Their Dreams.” I started thinking about what my dream had been. I gave myself one year to get into one veterinary college. My acceptance letter was dated with my birthday!! I am blessed to be able to work in this field. I love it!
I am married and have an adult son, daughter-in-law and two delightful granddaughters. I enjoy reading and I like to paint. I use watercolor, acrylic, and oil paint. I like all types of painting, but I really want to become skilled with watercolors.
Hi! My name is Nereida, I am from California but raised in Gastonia, North Carolina. I have been with TotalBond for about 3 years now and use to work for our boarding/daycare facility in Gastonia for 5-6 years before then. I am very proud to be apart of this family!
I have a almost year old kitty named Ava, she is crazy and rules the house! I hope to add a dog to the family in the future.
I have always loved all types of animals and love helping them however I can. I wanted to be a veterinarian when "I grew up". I spent most of my childhood summers on farms with cows, horses, goats etc. They always brought me joy being around them.
My passion is helping and understanding pets the best I can and helping owners do the same. Which is why I went through the Low Stress handling program and became certified.
I hope to keep building the relationships we currently have and can't wait to meet any new furry companions as well!
